SAF Art Fair 2011

Il Fischio nel Paesaggio 30 x 50 cm

I’ll be showing work at the SAF Art Fair 2011 on Saturday 10th.
The fair, organised by Southwark Arts Forum, is part of this week-end’s Thames Festival . Look for her in Hay’s Galleria on Jubilee Walk on the south bank of the river between 12 noon and 8pm.

Papercrafts

The new updated Encylopedia of Techniques for Crafting with Paper, produced by Quarto Books and published by Search Press, is now out. The book contains examples of my work to illustrate the
paper pulp section.

Originally, the publisher asked to use work by both John and me, as the book also has a section on pop-ups. Sadly, for reasons beyond our control, this was not to be.

Encylopedia of Techniques for Crafting with Paper covers a number of paper techniques including origami, paper sculpting, bookbinding, papier mache and pulp and other techniques. and precise, step-by-step instructions are given to learn the basics of each craft. It could be described as an introduction for beginners and students on
basic art courses.

Esperienze di colore 110 x 89cm 2009

This is the second time that Quarto books has asked me for the use of my images. Previously, my work featured in the Papermaking Techniques Book by John Plowman.

Blurb Book

My first Blurb book, featuring a selection of work from various stages of my art career, is now available to buy. You can preview the book below – use the full-screen option to benefit from the full experience. To get your copy of the book, go to the Blurb bookstore using the link.

Sowing the Seeds

Seeds for my new project have arrived from Teresinha at www.wildcolours.co.uk. She tells me she also has an allotment where she grows some of her dyers’ plants. It’s my aim also to build up a big collection of my own.

Anyone out there with seeds for english or italian dyers’ plants who wants to be part of this special artist’s book please get in touch.

Other new work in progress –

Islington Exhibits

If you’re whizzing along the Holloway Road in the direction of Highbury Corner, look over your left shoulder as you pass number 158 to catch a glimpse of my stained glass books in the window of Blackwells bookshop.

It’s to do with Islington Exhibits, an initiative that unlocks hidden venues in Islington to give artists a space to display their work. It’s produced by Rowan Arts in partnership with St. Luke’s Centre and Cubitt Education, and this year I’m participating for the first time.

When you’re finished looking at the reflections of the passing traffic in the stained glass books , then go along to Emmanuel Church at 145 Hornsey Road, London N7 6DU, where you can see some of my large-scale paper pulp works alongside, among others, Joycelyn Alstron, Danny Green and Barry Milord Sanford.

The exhibition runs from
Friday 25th June – Sunday 4th July 2010
Mon – Sat 11 am – 7 pm, Sun 1 pm – 3.30 pm (sharp)

PRIVATE VIEW   Friday 25th June, 6pm – 9pm

Look forward to seeing you there.

Many thanks to  Finsbury Park Business Forum & Tollington Parish for sponsoring the event and to Pete from The Londoneer for the write-up.
