20/21 International Art Fair

Tenere Aggrappato L’Intervallo 30 x 52 cm IRMA IRSARA

There’s a chance to see my work at the 20/21 International Art Fair, where, once again, I’m represented by Print Europe.

The Art Fair takes place at the RCA and features modern and contemporary work from the UK and abroad. Included will be oils, original prints, watercolours and drawings, as well as some photography, sculpture and ceramics. The work ranges from 1900 to the present day and prices start from a few hundred upwards.

Hope to see you there.

Affordable Art Fair

The Affordable Art Fair takes place, as usual, in Battersea Park and runs from Thursday 21 – Sunday 24 October.

The AAF, which was started ten years ago, is a fine art fair promoting original art, and is for galleries and dealers rather than individual artists. It’s aim is to make contemporary art accessible to everyone, and is the leading showcase in the UK for contemporary art under £3,000.

I’m being represented at this year’s fair by Print Europe, run by Irene Scheinmann. Make sure you visit them at Stand D3.

Click on the AAF link for all the details.

United House

There’s a small selection of my work currently on display in the foyer of United House, North Road, London N7 9DP, which is just around the corner from Caledonian Road tube station.

Marion, from Busworks, very kindly allowed me to take over the wall space to hang six recent pieces. The large areas of white brickwork are ideal for showing off the type of work I does and I decided early on to hang everything unframed. This helps integrate the art with the surroundings, the extra white around the pieces allows them additional breathing space, and it also makes it easier to engage with the work and to appreciate the texture of the paper pulp.

My work will be on show for a couple of months so let me know if you’re planning to pass by to have a look or, failing that,  just mention at the desk that you’re there to see the pictures.

I’ll be at United House on Tuesday 17th August 2010, 4.30 – 6.00pm for a private view. Come for a drink and a chat – last chance before I disappear for a while to work on some new large-scale works.

Thanks also to Decoder’s Ailbhe and Mark, who work in the building, for organizing the initial introductions.

Islington Exhibits

If you’re whizzing along the Holloway Road in the direction of Highbury Corner, look over your left shoulder as you pass number 158 to catch a glimpse of my stained glass books in the window of Blackwells bookshop.

It’s to do with Islington Exhibits, an initiative that unlocks hidden venues in Islington to give artists a space to display their work. It’s produced by Rowan Arts in partnership with St. Luke’s Centre and Cubitt Education, and this year I’m participating for the first time.

When you’re finished looking at the reflections of the passing traffic in the stained glass books , then go along to Emmanuel Church at 145 Hornsey Road, London N7 6DU, where you can see some of my large-scale paper pulp works alongside, among others, Joycelyn Alstron, Danny Green and Barry Milord Sanford.

The exhibition runs from
Friday 25th June – Sunday 4th July 2010
Mon – Sat 11 am – 7 pm, Sun 1 pm – 3.30 pm (sharp)

PRIVATE VIEW   Friday 25th June, 6pm – 9pm

Look forward to seeing you there.

Many thanks to  Finsbury Park Business Forum & Tollington Parish for sponsoring the event and to Pete from The Londoneer for the write-up.

Barbican

Città Ideale was an exhibition of  artists’ books, and recent video and paper pulp works which took it’s inspiration from the city’s hidden spaces. At the time, our good friend Ailbhe, of Decoder, said some very kind words on her blog, Simply Splendiferous.

The Barbican Library Foyer turned out to be a great venue with a huge amount of through traffic and a very interesting and varied mix of people.

BCAF

I’ll be showing small works at the BCAF at the weekend. According to the blurb, the Battersea Contemporary Art Fair is “one of the largest artists’ fairs in the UK, where over 150 painters, sculptors, printmakers and photographers will sell directly to the public with no commission payable to dealers or galleries. It is an opportunity for people to see a broad range of art at competitive prices form below £40 to over £4,000”.

I will be there everyday throughout the fair – you’ll find me at stand C23. Drop by and say hello.   IRMA

Grand Marché d’Art Conpemporain

Apart from the large portfolio getting jammed tight in the X-ray machine on the way back, all went well at the Grand Marché d’Art Contemporain in Paris.

The idea was to keep it simple and direct with one very large piece filling the back wall of the stand, like an installation.

Posso solo dire che è un atmosfera fantastica amplificata dal luogo stesso.

Bastille Art Fair

I’m going to Paris to take part in the Grand Marché d’Art Contemporain at Place de la Bastille. This is a huge art fair, taking place near the banks of the Seine, that runs from 28th April to 2nd May 2010. Last year I participated in the “Premier expo”, so this time I’m taking the plunge and booking the full stand. More to follow.
